Souls

« Le ballet des âmes » is Louis Roobaert's first major work. It is an acrylic painting created from four different instruments. The brush, the knife, the stamp and the artist's body. Four souls that lie in a defined space without ever getting in touch. The souls represent the four elements dancing together without touching each other. Somewhere in the middle of these living souls is a no man’s land. The artist based his work on a Japanese colour palette. « Le ballet des âmes » was painted using the three primary colours. It is by mixing the paints that each soul obtains its colourisation and its substance.
